PIANO

THE COURSES OF PIANO AT MUSIC HOUSE ARE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO IMPROVE THE MUSICIANSHIP OF INCOMING STUDENTS. AN INITIAL CHOICE OF THE MUSIC GENRE WILL TAKE PLACE, BETWEEN JAZZ/POP PIANO AND CLASSICAL PIANO

ENTRY LEVEL (PROPAEDEUTIC TO ABRSM GRADE 1)

Duration:
A minimum of 12 classes, more if necessary

Musical skills:

  • Treble and bass clefs study
  • Reading simple scores with the following notes’ values: WHOLE NOTES, HALF NOTES, QUARTER NOTES, EIGHT NOTES, SIXTEENTH NOTES
  • Simple time signatures: 4/4, 3/4, 2/4

Technical skills:

  • Knowledge of the piano keyboard
  • Fingers agility, independence, and coordination
  • Independence of both hands, i.e. playing different simple rhythms with each hand
  • Playing scales in 1 octave with hands separately in the following keys: C major, A minor harmonic & melodic, G major, E minor harmonic & melodic, F major, D minor harmonic & melodic
  • Playing arpeggios in 1 or 2 octaves with hands separately in the following keys: C major, A minor, G major, E minor, F major, D minor

Repertoire:

  • Up to 3 simple pieces of every music genres chosen by the student (the teacher could provide simplified versions of more advanced pieces if possible)

Modality of teaching:

  • The student will learn how to read the score from the first lesson
  • The student will learn how to follow a regular beat (time/tempo/bpm) from the beginning
  • The teacher will play for the student the exercises that he is requested to learn, showing the correct hand position, the correct fingering, and the fingers’ movement
  • The teacher will provide video tutorials for the student
  • The teacher and the student will listen together reference tracks for the piece that the student wants to learn
  • The student is free to choose which pieces he wants to learn. The teacher should provide adequate versions compared to the student’s technical level.
